About the project
Feminist movements have made much progress globally in the last decades, making a positive impact on policies, social norms and representation. Adequate funding for movements have been lacking, though. The Feminists in Action Project intends to contribute to the sustainability of these movements. It aims to provide women’s organizations with adequate financial, human, material, and organizational resources to implement their vision and encourage other donors to support them for advancing gender equality and social development in Cambodia and the global south.
General and specific objective
The general objective of this project is to support the transformative power of feminist organizations in the global South for a more gender equal world.
The project focuses on 3 main objectives:
- The provision of secure and flexible funding to women’s organizations through three funding channels to support their organizational strengthening, operational projects, and joint actions at the national and/or regional levels.
- Strengthening the technical capacity of women’s CSOs to advance women’s rights, gender equality, and the empowerment of women, girls, and marginalized communities.
- Networking of feminist organizations and creation of alliances to promote learning, enhance know-how and carry out advocacy actions.
Activities
The fund intends to focus on four major subjects of promotion of gender equality:
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
- The fight against gender-based violence (GBV)
- Women’s economic empowerment
- Women’s access to rights.
Partnerships
In Cambodia, the Feminists in Action project has six-local partners, three feminist partners in Grant Channel 1 and three feminist partners in Grant Channel 2. The project partners’ activities focus on different spectrums of gender and development, including preventing and intervening in gender-based violence, suppressing gender injustice and discrimination in the community, delivering the foundation of financial literacy, business strategy plans for urban women’s street vendors, engaging and empowering the men, boys, and duty bearers. Each project fosters inclusivity and diversity, such as migrant women, women farmers, people with disability, LGBTQIA+, and ethnic minority groups across the country.
