Localization

CARE began working in Cambodia over 30 years ago. Since then, our role has transitioned from a ‘traditional’ implementing INGO to one that focuses more on harnessing our convening power to bring together local civil society, social movements, and government to affect sustainable change. We aim to strengthen the capacity of local organizations to lead in the design and implementation of programming and achieve their missions and goals.

Locally led-Globally Connected

Our commitment to being locally led and globally connected means working side-by-side with partners and communities to understand the root causes of poverty; finding innovative, locally-led solutions, and seeking ways to support them in their scaling up and sustainability. In all our partnerships, we leverage our global networks and expertise to help to ensure we bring diverse perspectives to complex issues.

Equitable Partner

CARE commits itself to equitable partnerships, moving away from sub-granting relationships where CARE sets the agenda to mutual partnerships where there is a value-add for both parties that amplifies the voice of local communities.

Convener

Our years of commitment to Cambodia has built the trust of both government and civil society to be able to create social dialogues with multiple stakeholders such as trade unions, social movements, and the private sector.
